Omaha, NE. TDI. 2012 Passat SE tdi. Dec 1, 2015. #1. I am having problems with my 2012 Passat tdi. I had message on the message display (Top Up AdBlue! Range 1500 miles). I used peak ad blue and filled the AdBlue tank, followed the reset message instructions in the owner manual but the AdBlue message still displays on start up.
Use the controls on the right side of the steering wheel to display the Settings menu. Find and select SERVICE. Use the arrow buttons to scroll down to the Service option and then press ok to select. Select RESET. Use the arrows again to scroll to the Reset option and then press ok to confirm the reset. Select OK. Apparently due to the weight of the current Tiguan, (heavier than Golf GTD) and therefore greater emissions are produced. They have to use Adblue, to comply with Eur6. H.
Fresh adblue is odorless, old adblue smells like ammonia. I bought that bottle from the VW dealer for demo purposes, paid $8 but was quoted $16 at another dealer. 2. As far as I know, you just add fluid, nothing in computer to reset. It's stupid for these guys to not have a gauge since, at least in the Passat, there are tank level sensors.
